- Alpha Ursae Minoris, "Polaris", (once
- called "Alracubba" by medieval Arabs),
- is the current pole star. It is both a
- variable and a double star of 18
- seconds separation. Its closest
- approach to the pole will be in
- 2102 A.D. Observing the "motion" of
- the stars, you'll see them "revolve"
- around Polaris.
